Okima - Indigenous Leadership Course (3 days)

Being a leader begins with self-leadership.

This experience will immerse you in the heart of the Anicinape universe which will welcome you as you are with open arms.

In the program :

Day 1 – The Anicinape philosophy:

9:00 a.m.: Welcome
10:00 a.m.: First lessons on Anicinape philosophy
Talking circle
Teachings on the circle of medicine and the 4 directions.
Teachings on Indigenous leadership and the origins of the Matato (sweat lodge)
Taking the name of an animal by each participant and teaching about animals
Vigil of the sacred fire: Participants take turns keeping the fire for one hour during the night.

Day 2 – Medicine of the mind

Pipe ceremony
Teachings about Okima, the leader
Final preparations for Matato
Matato

Day 3 – Talking circle and Makocan

Prayer of the 4 directions
Discussion circle
Closing Remarks
Makocan: Celebration meal
Last small tasks to leave the place clean after departure
Departure around 3:00 p.m.

Please note that the courses are given in French, but can be adapted into English, Anicinape and Atikamekw for the moment.
